2013: New Year. New Resolutions.

Matcha Design - Friday, December 28, 2012

Check out this YouTube video Google posted showing what the world searched for in 2012.

It is amazing to see all the huge events and trending topics in 2012 through the "eyes" of Google, and it gets me thinking...2012 was a big year for Matcha Design. Our staff grew to include a Marketing and Communication Manager position and Pancake, our supportive office dog. We tackled a new interactive project never before attempted in the industry, and all the while, surpassed our 100th award for national and international design competitions. These may seem small in comparison to the video's vast scope, but it reminded me to look toward the new year with hope.

So, with 2013 right around the corner we thought it a good idea to set some resolutions as a company. Many times setting a resolution is a way to get going on something you have neglected to do. For example, stop smoking or the ever-popular, lose weight. However, our below resolutions do not reflect items we have neglected, but are commitments to areas we firmly believe are a part of Matcha's core personality:

Commit to excellence in all we do.
We do each project well, whether it's design, programming, copywriting, project management or customer care. We have a no sweet talk policy - we respect, really respect your deadline and business needs and we communicate with each client with honesty and integrity. We continue to live up to the expectation and responsibility of being a national award winning design firm.

Work more efficiently through mobile methods.
We like to keep things streamlined at Matcha Design and discuss most of our business via skype video meetings, phone or via email. Although in-person meetings are great and sometimes needed, we focus on doing business mobile style in order to get our client’s work completed as soon as possible.

Continue to provide thorough project proposals and keep estimate transparency at the front of project management.
We like to discuss the project first before giving an estimate for proposed work. This helps both our team and the client understand expectations and deliverables based on the current project needs.

Use our electronic communication channels to have conversations about relevant topics.
We will use our THINK + CREATE e-newsletter to deliver interesting content and stay in touch with our community on a monthly basis. Our Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn feeds won't be full of marketing, agenda-pushing messages, but with fun and interesting posts appropriate to the platform. Our website will stay updated with fresh content and focus on growing our case studies section.

Drink more coffee.
We promise to continue to follow in the footsteps of Chris Lo, the fearless leader at Matcha Design, and drink lots of coffee. This may seem like an easy resolution, but keeping up with his coffee intake and creative energy is challenging! Bring on the creative coffee breaks!

What are you looking forward to in 2013? Let us know what your resolutions are by posting them to Twitter (@matchadesign) or on our Facebook!

Happy New Year!
