1st Church of Sapulpa
Comprehensive Redesign and Branding for a Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa
“This project allowed us to work all our creative muscles – the Matcha team helped with rebranding, content writing, on-site photography, logo design, web design, animated video, technical consultation, printed materials, and more.”
Matcha Design Performs a Complete Brand Overhaul and Design Overhaul for 1st Church of Sapulpa
Prior to contacting Matcha Design, 1st Church of Sapulpa’s brand was very generic, making it difficult to appeal to the group of believers they wanted to attract. Throughout the process, we kept in close contact with the church staff to ensure we were executing the vision they had for their logo, brand, and website.
This rebranding effort required a great deal of research, in-person effort, and design work to see everything through to fruition. In addition to providing on-site photography of the church, which is a historic landmark in its own right and takes up an entire city block in the heart of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. We even assisted with T-shirt design, banners, car decals, and creating other printed materials they could readily distribute to the Sapulpa community.
The end results are stunning and must be seen to be believed. 1st Church of Sapulpa is now able to make an impact through its distinct, recognizable presence within the community. The church was ecstatic that we were able to deliver a simple, dynamic, classic modern design for their logo in addition to everything else we helped with.
“We provided the church with deliverables they could be proud of. They were very satisfied with their exceptional, fresh logo and modern, beautiful website.”
This comprehensive design project had to be built from the ground up. We started with rebranding efforts. The Matcha Design team conducted ongoing research and study to find a brand that showed what the church had to offer. We needed to develop a domain for the church (both the website and social media handles) before diving into the logo design.
We needed to keep everything rooted in the Presbyterian beliefs of the church – something that was very important to them during this project.
The church needed something memorable to set them apart as a unique body of believers in the competitive environment of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. This was no small task: the city of 22,000 people has close to 60 churches.
The Matcha Design team needed to take some pictures of the church in order to get a sense of who they are and where they fit into the community. Commercial photographs would also be featured on the website. The website needed to be planned in a way that was easy to digest and memorable for mobile and desktop users – which can prove a challenge in itself when creating content that some may view as “boring,” such as “Our Story” and “Beliefs.”
We provided on-location commercial photography which shows the massive size of the church and its prime location in the heart of Sapulpa. The “Our Story” page was delightful to create, as it gave us an opportunity to dive into the church’s extensive history.
The logo design we created for the church is iconic – working well on its own as well as with the text of the church. The logo is significant for many reasons:
- Sapulpa is the crossroads of America, and the church is in the heart of Sapulpa
- The cross in the background also reflects symbolizes the cross of Christ
- The open heart symbolizes compassion: openness, love for God and the community
The website is formatted beautifully: engaging and creative. Each page is handcrafted with a unique call-to-action that matches the functionality of the rest of the website. The home page features beautiful shots which compose an animated video that plays well on desktop and mobile. We’ve animated the hero areas to introduce the church in a fun and dynamic way.
Compared to many, the website could be considered small – but the efforts exhibited by our team and the care they took during the process are not. We put a lot of heart and soul into the website to make sure it shines brightly.
We kept the Presbyterian roots of the church at the core of this project. The tagline we developed for the church is as follows: We demonstrate Christ’s love through our mission works and our compassionate hearts. Everything we created has successfully reflected their mission.
The end result of our projects truly represents the church with engaging content that speaks to its audience. We will continue to support them and maintain their website, diligently building it up so it’s as comprehensive as possible.
