As the age old saying goes, “timing is everything”. You don’t have to be living very long to understand this concept, but how many times do we ignore this idea when it comes to our social media messaging? If you have any social media accounts for your business or organization, you find out pretty quick that not everyone sees your posts.
Now, it’s my opinion you should not solely depend on social media as the only vehicle to disseminate content, but it is unwise to carelessly slap posts on your accounts in the name of “engaging the social community”.
So when is the best time to post your social media messages for maximum exposure? To take the guesswork out of social media scheduling, here are a few key takeaways from the Science of Social Timing infographic by KISSmetrics:
- The best time to tweet is 5PM ET
- The best days to tweet are midweek and on the weekends
- The best day to share on Facebook is Saturday
- The best time to share on Facebook is Noon ET
Don’t use these tips as the end all answer to your social scheduling. Take time to analyze your social media community and understand who they are. If your fans operate in different time zones, then you need to adjust your posts accordingly. Also, we all have lives outside the office, so find a social media tool to help push out your messages during odd hours. Buffer and Hootsuite are two of many you can use.
