Content is (Still) King

Content-based marketing has dominated in 2014 and it’s expected that this trend will continue into 2015 and beyond. According to, nearly 30% of marketers opted for content marketing in 2014, up from around 25% in 2013.

Content-based marketing is extremely effective, as it accommodates both “hard sell” and “soft sell” approaches. What’s more, blog content in particular allows you to develop a readership, while establishing your authority in a particular niche. And, of course, frequent website updates with new content are essential for maintaining good search engine rankings. In addition to the cross-over that occurs with search engine marketing, a content marketing strategy can also complement a social media campaign.

App-based Marketing Solutions

In 2014, mobile marketing saw a drop in the percentage of marketers utilizing this method. It went from around 28% in 2013 to just over 15% in 2014. Mobile marketing typically refers to SMS/text messaging campaigns.

But those mobile devices are good for so much more than texting! The number of app-based marketing campaigns exploded in 2014. More and more marketers are creating customized apps that are tailored to the users’ precise needs. It’s a unique, brand-specific portal that enables the user to perform practical functions (e.g. booking a reservation or obtaining an answer from a company’s customer support staff) and less essential functions, such as games and other features designed to entertain and engage. Facebook also added a number of targeting options, including promoted posts and custom audiences.

So today, marketers can target a very precise niche and a very precise audience more effectively than ever before.
